The copper nails are uncoated and oxygen-free, maximising ion release efficiency upon contact with sap and moisture. Stainless steel offers rigidity and reusability for pilot marking, while the cobalt HSS drill bit maintains sharpness when penetrating seasoned oak, ash or sycamore. To use: drill shallow guide holes using the cobalt bit, tap in the stainless nail to mark depth and position, then drive copper nails radially around the stump base — ideally at 5–8 cm intervals and angled slightly inward to intersect the vascular ring. Results typically appear within 4–12 weeks depending on species and season.
