The time delay relay operates with a 12V DC power supply. When powered, the relay does not activate immediately. Initially, the output is in the default state: normally open (NO) contacts are open, and normally closed (NC) contacts are closed. After a user-adjustable delay of 1–10 seconds, the relay activates. At activation, the NO contacts close and the NC contacts open. This activated state remains as long as power is continuously applied. The delay time is adjustable from 0 to 10 seconds using an onboard potentiometer. Increasing the potentiometer resistance increases the delay. Alternatively, increasing capacitor C1 also extends the delay time. The module includes an input indicator LED and an output status LED. It controls AC 220V / 10A loads (up to 2000W maximum). Built-in relay protection safeguards connected devices. Delay time follows the formula: T = 1.1 × R × C. For example: with C = 100 µF and R = 100 kΩ, T = 1.1 × 100,000 × 0.0001 = 11 seconds. This timer is designed for applications requiring controlled startup timing — such as preventing inrush current damage when multiple devices power on simultaneously (e.g., automotive accessories plugged into a cigarette lighter socket).
