The TSL2591 light sensor is an advanced digital light sensor suitable for use in various lighting conditions. Compared to low-cost cadmium sulfide cells, this sensor offers higher accuracy, enabling precise lux calculations and configurable gain and timing ranges. It features a detection range from 188 µLux up to 88,000 lux. The sensor includes both infrared and full-spectrum diodes, allowing measurement of infrared, full-spectrum, and visible light. The TSL2591 has a dynamic range of 600 million to 1. The 7-bit I2C address (0x29) cannot be changed. The board includes a voltage regulator and operates within a voltage range of 3.3V to 5.0V. The built-in ADC allows compatibility with any microcontroller, even those without analog inputs. Active current consumption is 0.4mA, and less than 5µA in power-down mode, making it ideal for low-power data logging applications.
