It features a lanyard that can be worn around the wrist or attached to clothing. The switch is normally open and closes when the lanyard is pulled, cutting power to the ignition. It can also be manually activated by pressing the red button. Many older outboard motors lack automatic engine cutoff protection in case of operator ejection. This kill switch provides critical safety assurance during operation. If your outboard engine shows no spark, the issue may be a faulty or stuck existing kill switch requiring replacement.
