FT232RL USB RJ12 Serial Converter

This USB-to-RJ12 (6P6C) serial converter cable replaces the APC 940-0144 and 940-0144A cables with native USB connectivity while maintaining full functional equivalence. It integrates a genuine FTDI FT232RL chipset and RS232 level shifter for accurate voltage-level translation between USB logic and APC PDU serial interfaces. Constructed with dual-end molded connectors for mechanical durability and consistent mating force. Compatible with APC metered and switched PDUs including AP78xx, AP79xx, AP86xx, AP88xx, AP89xx, AP7000, AP8000, AP9000, AP6000 and AP77xx series units. The FT232RL ensures stable baud rates up to 3 Mbps and supports standard RS232 handshake lines (RTS/CTS/DTR/DSR/DCD), critical for reliable firmware-level communication with APC devices. Driver support covers legacy and current operating systems: Windows XP–10 (including Server editions and x64), macOS (OS X, Mac OS 9/8), Linux (built-in kernel module), Android, Windows CE.NET and Windows RT — with automatic driver installation on most platforms. Designed for professional infrastructure use: enables integration with APC PowerChute Business Edition, open-source tools like apcupsd, or custom Python/Node.js serial scripts for real-time power metrics, outlet control, event alerts and scheduled shutdowns — all via standard USB port without requiring legacy serial ports or PCIe cards.
