Integrated PTC Relay Overload Protector

Single-unit solution combining PTC-based compressor start assist and thermal-magnetic overload protection. Designed for retrofit into UK-market refrigerators and freezers using standard QP3-15/C form-factor starters. Measures 42 × 26 × 20 mm; weighs 38 g. Rated for continuous operation at 220–240 V AC, 50 Hz, with peak inrush handling up to 8 A. Housing meets IEC 60695-11-10 glow-wire requirements for household appliances. Core function is to provide initial high-resistance path for motor start winding excitation, then self-heating to increase resistance and isolate start winding once rotation begins — all while continuously monitoring winding temperature and line current. Triggers disconnect if either parameter exceeds safe limits, preventing burnout. Common applications include Liebherr, Bosch, Siemens, Hotpoint, Indesit, and Smeg models where OEM starter units have aged out. Installation follows standard UK appliance service practice: isolate power, unclip or unscrew old unit, connect wires to matching terminals on new unit — no polarity concerns or calibration required.
