This high-end, medium sized wood carving U gouge, from Japan, is manufactured by Michihamono that is known for making quality carving tools, suitable for beginners and experienced carvers. This tool is crafted from high-speed steel, a highly alloyed tool steel capable of maintaining hardness even at increased temperature, and has a great wear resistance and toughness. The ergonomically designed handle is made from walnut wood that is durable and resistant to wear and tear. A ferrule at the end of the handle adds protection and keeps the blade from separating from the handle.This woodworking tool can be used in initial roughing out of small areas in blocks of wood used in woodblock relief printing. It can also be used for carving figurines and wooden sculptures.
