While the humus intake is rarely too high, the soil must be supplied with lime after precise pH measurement. A weakly acidic soil reaction (pH 6 to 7) promotes metabolism in the soil and thus improves plant nutrition. However, too much lime can reduce the availability of phosphate and trace elements for the plants. Therefore, a soil test is one of the first steps, both in the garden and on the field. To do this, use Neudorff's pH soil test to quickly and inexpensively determine the lime status and the height of the lime requirements in the soil.- Depending on the lime content, the soils are divided into highly acidic, acidic, weakly acidic and neutral soils (see colour chart on the package).
